Programme Manager,
Extern
Gemma graduated with an Honours degree in Graphic Design in 1984 and subsequently gained a Diploma in Social Work in 1995. She has worked for Extern for over 20 years, starting as Senior Development Supervisor, followed by Project Manager and has been a Programme Manager since 2000.
The main focus of Gemma’s work over the years has been in the children/youth field, working directly with young people aged 11-18 years in a variety of settings and in different capacities, eg teaching/vocational training/personal development/residential care.
Since 1990 her role has progressively evolved into a supervisory and managerial position, culminating in her present position in Extern of ‘Programme Manager for the Belfast Intensive Family Support Service’, which provides a strengths based family preservation model of support to whole families suffering from multiple adversity and who have complex needs.
