Director of Children’s Services and Executive Director of Social Work,
South Eastern Health and Social Care Trust
Brendan Whittle is an experienced Social Worker. He has worked across several programmes of care and led a range of services including Children’s, Hospital Social Work, Disability, Older People, and Mental Health services since the early 1990s.
Brendan is Director of Children’s Services and Executive Director of Social Work at the South Eastern Health & Social Care Trust in Northern Ireland. He has been a Director in the Trust since June 2012 working first as Director of Adult Services and Prison Healthcare and for the past year and a half as Director of Children’s services.
Brendan’s interests are working to change the way things are done so that we are much more focused on measured outcomes. He wants to do more to provide help early and to safely reduce the numbers of children coming into care. He is very concerned that when children do come into care that their experience should be a good one and that services should be strength based, compassionate and loving. Brendan has been leading work in the South Eastern Trust on introducing outcomes based accountability to children’s services.
